Park and ride system
To remove the need to drive in city traffic jams, search for a parking space outside the office, shop, health centre or other locations, and above all with the desire to encourage less pollution in the city centre from motor vehicles, we have set up five P+R system car parks on city arterial roads.
Broadening the network of P+R centres strengthens public transport and encourages sustainable mobility in the Ljubljana Urban Region. Altogether, the five Ljubljana car parks in the P+R system have a total of 2,169 parking spaces. Car park users can park all day and the price of parking includes two city bus tickets.
Ljubljana Urban Region is setting up a comprehensive parking system network, which by the end of 2020 is foreseen to offer 28 gathering centres for P+R. These centres will keep a proportion of motor traffic on the outskirts of the city and in the broader Ljubljana Urban Region. The P+R gathering centres will be part of a multimodal travel chain for transfer from private car to bus or rail travel and non-motorised transport (cycle paths and footpaths).
Multimodal transport is the combination of more means of transport; in the case of P+R users combine private car, bus, own bike or Bicike(LJ) system. One advantage of multimodal forms of travel is greater environmental sustainability and a reduced carbon footprint due to transport.

Parking fees of €1.20 a day are paid at an Urbanomat for the current day in cash, Moneta or with an Urbana card. Paying to park entitles you to two journeys by city bus, valid until 23:59 on the day the parking is paid for.

You can now pay for or extend your parking with Urbana SMS-parking, which supplements the existing system of paying for parking on the road, which until now has only been available at parkomats. The service is simple, safe and easy to use.
