Driving a natural gas vehicle

Environmentally friendly vehicles with fewer harmful emissions and noise.

FRIENDLY TO THE ENVIRONMENT

In their work, the City of Ljubljana's public companies and services already use more than 120 natural gas vehicles. This implements the vision on responsible attitudes to the environment and contributes to improving air quality in the capital.

PUBLIC FILLING STATIONS

Use of the public filling station at Cesta Ljubljanske brigade 1 in Ljubljana is rising steeply, so Energetika Ljubljana is already planning to install new ones. More info about filling stations around Europe is available here.

WHAT IS CNG?

CNG or a compressed natural gas is a propellant with a high octane value (125) and therefore greater compression and combustion performance. The result is reduced fuel consumption and fewer emissions of harmful gases. The exhaust from a CNG car is odourless, and the main product of combustion is water steam.

YOU CAN DRIVE MUCH FURTHER ON CNG

Taking into account the price of CNG in Slovenia and its energy value, the cost of CNG is much less than other fuels with the same energy value. Put it another way: for the same amount of money, you can drive much further on CNG.

DID YOU KNOW?

Despite signs saying ‘Parking gas vehicles prohibited’, CNG vehicles can park peacefully in underground garages. These prohibitions are getting confused with LPG vehicles. LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) is heavier than air and in the event of release collects at the lowest point and is hard to remove. As natural gas is lighter than air, in the case of discharge it rapidly dissolves and there is much less danger of explosion.
