MY CITY – MY AIR: I DRIVE ON NATURAL GAS FOR A CLEANER DAILY LIFE
Showcasing the use of natural gas in transport
We use methane or compressed natural gas (CNG) as a vehicle fuel instead of petrol or fuel oil. Methane vehicles are environmentally friendly vehicles, as they produce fewer harmful emissions, do not form solid particulates and make less noise. The cost and fuel consumption are lower, and the engine and catalyser have a longer life expectancy.
Environmentally friendly vehicles make up more than a third of City of Ljubljana services’ and public companies’ vehicles of which at least half run on methane. The greatest number of methane vehicles has been owned by LPT since May 2016, namely 66 city buses. Thereby, we are increasing our contribution to improved air quality in the capital and implementing the common vision on a responsible approach to the environment. There will be more information on methane vehicles and their use in practice, including filling stations in Ljubljana and elsewhere in Slovenia and beyond at a presentation by Energetika Ljubljana on Thursday 23 June from 10am to 1pm. You will also be able to see an example of a methane vehicle.
